Free Canva Vision Board Template To Achieve Your Best Self

How to Make a Vision Board on Canva + (Free Template!)

Vision boards can be created in a variety of ways. Some use magazine cut-outs while others create them digitally. With five kids, my life seemingly revolves around cleaning messes so I definitely vote the no mess version.

I created a beautiful Canva Vision Board Template to keep the process as simple as possible while leaving all the fun and dreaming for you. But first, let me share why moms should have a vision board in the first place.

Why Moms Need Vision Boards

Vision boards can be a powerful tool to help boost you towards your goals and accomplish your dreams.

Dreams? What are those?

I understand. Whether it is dreams that require sleep, or dreams of a far and distant future, as a busy mom you might not be doing much of either.

The only real goals I had for myself in the last 10 years consisted of house goals and goals for my children, etc. The main ones being:

  • Raise kind & God-loving kids (but, of course!)
  • Have a nice big house (five kids & future grandchildren visits)
  • Save for our kid’s college (education is an important value in our family)
  • Save for our retirement (Are you feeling some Dave Ramsey vibes?)

Just in the last two years, I have been diving into self-improvement books. I began to create goals for myself and I am AMAZED how much has changed in such little time. My goals & dreams have evolved. I still want to achieve everything on that list, but I have since realized I can achieve so much MORE.

And I don’t know if you noticed when looking at that list. I wasn’t really on it.

I’ll tell you what. If I was reading this a couple years ago, (which I wouldn’t have because these topics were nowhere near my radar) I would have thought that adding myself to that list would have been selfish.

Let me tell you why it is not.

If you are working on improving yourself, you are going to gain skill, confidence, virtue, you name it, to share WITH YOUR KIDS! And you will be a better example FOR YOUR KIDS. You are going to be able to show them how to achieve such goals because you did it. You become the master.

So mama, are you ready to get yourself some dreams? I created a Canva vision board template to keep it simple and leave all the fun dreaming part to you!

What Is A ‘Best Self’ Vision Board?

A vision board also referred to as a dream board, is a collage of images, quotes, and words that represent your goals and desires for your future best self. You can use this board as motivation and inspiration to help keep you on track to reaching your goals towards becoming your best self, both short-term and long terms. If you want to learn more about making goals that actually stick, be sure to check out this post.

Are ‘Best Self’ Vision Boards Effective?

Vision boards can be an effective strategy to help you reach your goals. According to Psychology Today,

“The brain is getting trained for actual performance during visualization. It’s been found that mental practices can enhance motivation, increase confidence and self-efficacy, improve motor performance, prime your brain for success, and increase states of flow—all relevant to achieving your best life!”

So, as you make a vision board on Canva, reflect on your goals, and visualize your future. You will be setting yourself up for success. Dreaming can be so powerful!

What If I Don’t Have Any Dreams?

If you don’t have dreams now is a great time to start. When you dream small or don’t dream at all, you are not working towards anything in particular. You don’t want to learn that you never tried because you were too afraid to fail.

Keep your mind open to the possibility and be patient. Your mind will continue to work to solve the problem and make the connections you need to make it possible. All the while you will be on the road to becoming the best version of yourself.

What Should My Vision Board Include?

When you make a vision board on Canva you can include inspiring images, quotes, affirmations and powerful words. I added an infographic below with some examples of powerful words you might choose to include in your vision board.

Your vision board can serve as inspiration for any area of your life. You can visualize your goals for your marriage, family goals, homeschooling goals, spiritual goals, etc. Or you can choose to have one vision board that simply represents all the areas of your life.

Any of these ideas will help you create a powerful vision board to motivate you towards becoming your best self.

How to Make a Vision Board on Canva

Step 1: Visualize

The first step is to start visualizing your future best self. As you brainstorm, ask yourself questions like:

What do you look like?

What are you doing?

Who is around you?

What have you achieved?

What talents have you developed?

Don’t be afraid to DREAM BIG

Step 2: Gather Images

Once you have an idea of what you would like on your best self vision board, start looking for images that can represent each area you want to include. Search for images on Pinterest, Google and even internally on Canva.

Step 4: Print

Once you are finished with filling in your vision board, you can choose how you want to save it. I chose to save it as a PDF file and printed it out.

Where To Place Your New Canva Vision Board

Vision boards will also serve you as a reminder to keep you on the task of reaching your goals. Place it somewhere where you will see it every day rather than in the back of a binder. Maybe your bedroom wall, your closet for when you get dressed in the morning, or in your office? I have mine taped to a mirror in my closet. I see it every day as I get dressed in the morning and take a moment to reflect on my goals.

What If My Vision Changes?

This will likely happen again ….. and again. It’s okay and perfectly normal. You are constantly evolving. The wonderful news is that once you start your vision board and start working towards your best self, you will be improving yourself and your dreams will become clearer. You might even see that your dreams were too small and easily achievable and you want to add new goals. This will help you in becoming more confident and you will feel free to dream even bigger!

Now that you know how to make a vision board on Canva, you can log back into your Canva account and update your template at any time. Each new year can be a great time to re-adjust anything you want on it. Don’t think of it as going backwards, but rather fine tuning your vision as you discover yourself and what you truly want to achieve at a deeper level.

Conclusion:

Visualization is a powerful tool that can help us accomplish great things and move towards becoming our best self. If you don’t have dreams there is no better time to start dreaming than now. Create a vision board relevant to a specific area in your life or an overall idea of what you imagine your best self will be.

As you grow, your goals may evolve and that’s perfectly okay. Don’t think of it as a setback. You are evolving. Activities like this help lead to self-discovery and pivoting to something more aligned with you is a wonderful realization.

I hope you enjoyed filling in your Canva vision board template! I would love to see yours if you are willing to share.

Practice it, model it, Achieve it!
